Joanne is a second year MS candidate in the Justice, Law, and Criminology program at American University. Her focus is on justice and public policy, and is particularly interested in crime and juvenile delinquency prevention programs. She is also interested in human rights and due process protections for criminal defendants and offenders. Outside of school, she has been involved in gender equality movements and increasing access to primary education worldwide, including early work on the International Day of the Girl Child. Joanne hails from Kensington, Maryland, and has a BS in Math and a BA in Justice, both from American University
